As sure as birth, death also happens. Choosing to keep our loved ones at home at end-of-life can be a sacred experience. Is it legal? Is it safe? What documents do we need? How do we care for the body as we choose to say goodbye? How do we create sacred space in honor of our loved ones? Join the discussion with Nora Cedarwind-Young, Certified Death Midwife, Green Burial Educator and former Hospice Chaplain. Nora teaches nation-wide and is a founding member of the National Home Funeral Association. She has been featured on NPR, in magazine articles and in books.

Oct 5 @ 6:00 pm
Make.Shift Gallery's Haunted Art House @ Make.Shift Art Space | Bellingham | Washington | United States

Join us for a spooky night of artsy frights! For First Friday Art Walk in October, Make.Shift gallery will be hosting a Haunted Art House. The gallery will feature haunted art installations and ghostly artworks by local artists such as Sara Homeyer, Eric Vanyo, Stephanie Hugo, Kristin Nelson, Cynthia French, Jessyca Murphy and more! Actors and performance artists will also be creeping around the space, so get ready for scary time! Costumes are highly encouraged!

Don’t like scary spaces? That’s okay! There are many ways to participate in the night’s events without the frights. Make. Shift volunteers will greet folks and be there to offer spoiler alerts and highly visible lanyards for folks to wear, if they don’t want to be spooked.
Interested in being a part of the frightening fun? The gallery is still accepting applications for artists and actors until Sept 15. Just visit makeshiftproject.com/gallery for more details. For more information about Art Walk or Make.Shift please visit our website at makeshiftproject.com/gallery or contact the gallery director, Jessyca Murphy at gallery@makeshiftproject.com.

Band of Havilah & Oyster Pop Up with Paellaworks @ Thousand Acre Cider House

We are so looking forward to having Havilah, with the great Phil Sottile on guitar and David Vaughns on percussion, back in for a night of music and friendship!

www.havilahmusic.com
www.facebook.com/havilah.rand

From the jazz halls of New York City to the post-grunge scene of Seattle to the Live Music Capital of the World, Havilah is a true troubadour whose career has spanned several decades and multiple genres. Havilah has recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest after a ten year stint in Austin, TX where she earned herself a steady audience and a respected name amidst a community of stellar musicians. Her songwriting blends a rootsy, rhythmic edge with a poetic lyricism born of adventure, self exploration and artistry at its most poignant. Painted with lush vocal stylings and honey-smoked melodies, Havilah’s songs and voice remind the listener of Joni Mitchell and Nina Simone but with a soul all its own. Joined by slide guitarist Phil Sottile and percussionist Dave Vaughn the set list features country blues and pop covers in addition to Havilah’s outstanding originals
