Bellingham United FC vs. Vancouver Victory Home Opener! @ Civic Center Stadium

Bellingham United FC vs. Vancouver Victory Home Opener! @ Civic Center Stadium | Bellingham | Washington | United States

The Evergreen Premier League WA is finally here! The defending champions are traveling to our home turf! At the Civic Center Stadium. Bellingham United was the league runner-up last year and they are determined to claim the title this year. The Hammers have momentum and are building off success from last year’s season and their most recent indoor season. Last time Vancouver played at Civic they walked away with a tie. United had numerous chances and buried one late in the game. This is going to be an intense start to the season and we need your support to defend our home!

A handful of this year’s indoor players have joined the outdoor squad and will make an immediate impact as the season starts. They have already made their presence felt in the EPLWA playing for Spokane and Wenatchee in previous seasons. We are lucky to call them Hammers and look forward to seeing returning & new fans, families, and players all out on next weekend! Sunday April 30th with kick off at 3:00 pm. Regular ticketing starts: tickets can be purchased online in the ticket URL section or at the gate: Adult $8, Youth $5. Support Local Soccer.

5th Annual Cup Show @ Jansen Art Center
Jun 1 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
5th Annual Cup Show @ Jansen Art Center | Lynden | Washington | United States

How many ways can you make a cup? The Jansen Art Center plans to show you over 100 variations during the 5th Annual Cup Show – a collection of work from over forty ceramic artists from around the United States and Canada.

This exhibit will be on display at the Jansen Art Center from June 1 through September 1, 2017. The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony takes place on Thursday, June 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception and vote on their choice for the People’s Choice Award. The Judge’s Choice awards will also be presented that evening.

The 5th Annual Cup Show is sponsored by Tony’s Coffee, the Whatcom Artists of Clay and Kiln (WACK) and the Clay Art Center in Tacoma.

Jesse Rasumussen, the Ceramics Studio Manager at the Jansen Art Center said, “I think the beauty of a cup show is seeing the artistic spectrum that each artist brings to a very simple, single idea. The cup.”

There is definitely a buzz around seeing all the variations from a diverse group of artists.

This year the witty and wonderful Nancy Pearl, NPR commentator and author of Book Lust, More Book Lust, Book Crush, Book Lust To Go and, most recently, a novel called George and Lizzie, will return to share her thoughts on some of the best reads available. Manhattan New Year’s Eve at the Jansen Art Center @ Jansen Art Center
Dec 31 @ 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Manhattan New Year's Eve at the Jansen Art Center @ Jansen Art Center | Lynden | Washington | United States

Tickets are on sale for the fourth annual Manhattan New Year’s Eve celebration and benefit at the Jansen Art Center in Lynden, WA. Tickets are $99 and include appetizers, dinner, drinks, party favors and entertainment.
Seating is limited to 80 for this popular event. The event has sold out the last three years. It is the only New Year’s Eve bash in downtown Lynden, and the only New Year’s Eve event we know of that wraps up around 9:30 p.m.

The night starts off at 5:30 p.m. with appetizers, drinks, a silent auction and live music with Scot Ranney and Thomas Erastus Harris on the main floor performing Jazz classics reminiscent of a Manhattan supper club. The silent auction features artwork from regional artists including Judith Gauthier, Ben Mann, Carol Henry, Joyce Noordmans, Marilyn Olsen and David Sibiga; tickets to see the Mariners; a hand-crafted piggy bank full of quarters; locally grown blueberries and other wonderful items.
The celebration moves upstairs to the beautiful Chamber Hall for a plated dinner (guests have a choice between a vegetarian pesto polenta stack, juicy pork loin or stuffed chicken breast) and music with jazz pianist Scot Ranney.
Following dinner, there will be a live auction featuring a night out in Seattle with tickets to the sold out performance of Hamilton and overnight stay at the beautiful Fairmont Olympic Hotel; seven-day Holland America cruise to Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada or New England; a Summer Supper on Lake Whatcom with Lynden Mayor Scott Korthuis and his wife Ellen; a weekend in Lynden with tickets to a performance at the Jansen Art Center, dinner at Steakhouse 9 and overnight stay at The Inn at Lynden; and a one-of-a-kind bell gong that is currently on display at the Jansen Art Center.
After the auction, the big screen is brought down in the Chamber Hall and the Live Stream of Times Square begins. We celebrate with the rest of Manhattan, counting down the seconds until the famous lighted ball drops, celebrating with a champagne toast and the ringing of Big Oly (the old fire siren on top of the Jansen Art Center), followed by dessert.
Tickets to the event are available at the Jansen Art Center’s Gallery Shop, online at www.jansenartcenter.org/nye, or by calling 360-354-3600.
