Black Umfolosi @ McIntyre Hall
Apr 14 @ 7:30 pm

Black Umfolosi were formed in 1982 by school friends in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, who named themselves after the Umfolozi Omnyama River in South Africa- to where their ancestors can be traced. In 2009 The Black Umfolosi five continue to present their spectacular songs and dances thrilling audiences worldwide. Their performances are energy driven and completely engaging, mixing a great gentleness of spirit and song with an exuberance in dance. Their trademark harmonies mixed with intricate rhythms, clicking and clapping are highlighted during their brilliantly choreographed shows with a full range of movements from subtle to vibrant stomping and leaping! Their famous Gumboot Dances showcase the traditional styles and rituals of the South African mining regions.

A Wild Thyme with Ciao Thyme! @ Ciao Thyme | Bellingham | Washington | United States

Wild Whatcom is holding a fundraising gala at Ciao Thyme – a fabulous meal for a fabulous cause! The funds raised through this inaugural event will increase access for more youth to participate in our outdoor nature-based programs, particularly those from marginalized populations for whom cost, transportation and other barriers prevent access to our beautiful Pacific Northwest natural areas.

Wild Whatcom is dedicated to inspiring a sense of wonder and discovery in youth through outdoor education. They are passionate about connecting kids to nature and empowering them to become positive change-makers.

Celebrate the best food the Pacific Northwest has to offer and support Wild Whatcom’s work to better serve kids who face disadvantages in our society. The event will also feature a silent auction for people to show their support.
