Description: It’s showtime for this Junior version of the iconic Broadway hit, Beetlejuice! Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether)world of pandemonium. “Beetlejuice Jr.” features BAAY student performers ages 13-17.

NSEA Terrell Creek Tree Planting @ 7039 Jackson Rd, Blaine, WA 98230

Help NSEA and the Whatcom Conservation District plant trees and shrubs along Terrell Creek at a long-term NSEA restoration site. Since 2002, NSEA has partnered with BP Cherry Point and various community groups like the Chums of Terrell Creek to restore stream habitat by removing invasive vegetation and replanting native trees and shrubs.

Terrell Creek not only provides cold, clean, and clear water essential for local coho and chum salmon populations, it also promotes healthy habitat for wildlife throughout the watershed including 170 bird species, steelhead, coastal and residential trout, and a diverse selection of Birch Bay shellfish.

The Native Plant Sale & Celebration is an opportunity to purchase native plants at low cost and to check out booths for more plants for sale by local nurseries, art for your garden, and helpful information from conservation organizations. Native plants are a low-maintenance choice to improve habitat while creating beautiful natural landscapes. We will be selling over 40 species of plants, just in time to get them in the ground before the growing season begins!

The public is invited to celebrate the opening of a new museum in Old Town Bellingham. A sister museum to The Helen Loggie Museum of Art, MUSEO is an assemblage of several collections – tied together with Bellingham as its anchor. Paintings by Ira Yeager, pottery by Louis Mideke, historic maps, posters and an archive of over 100 years of Bellingham newspapers – all on permanent display in the beautifully restored 1913 US Hotel Building. Also open to the public will be the recently created Courthouse Plaza on the corner of Holly and E Street, allowing a chance to see inside the restored Birney streetcar. We hope you’ll stop by and join the fun!

Winter Naturalist Series (Day 3 of 3): Ethnobotany & Wilderness Skills with Northwest Natura @ Northwest Natura private land

Designed for adult individuals at any skill level who are interested in having fun outdoors this winter learning about plants, wildlife, wilderness skills, sustainable foraging, PNW winter ecology, and a bit of herbalism.

Each class will focus on both wilderness and naturalist skills to deepen your awareness of the natural world.

Year Seven of Scarecrow Academy presents “Visions of America on Film,” an ambitious ten-week online discussion series built around buoyant and bracing cinematic views of America. Each week we’ll consider how some of the greatest filmmakers have pictured the US of A, through a variety of genres and eras.

Discussions are led by National Society of Film Critics member Robert Horton, author of the Seasoned Ticket column at the Scarecrow blog and Scarecrow’s “Programmer-Historian in Residence.” The Zoom sessions are free and open to all; there’s no homework, but we encourage you to watch that week’s movie, and please register online in advance. We meet on Saturdays at 2pm Pacific Time, beginning March 15, 2025.
