South Fork Zoom & Eat: Canning, Preserving & Sharing Our Resources: Thursday, January 7, 7:00pm. Due to the uncertainty of handling and sharing food during the pandemic, this “Project Neighborly” presentation sponsored by the Whatcom Community Foundation and South Fork Valley Community Association will take place online as a Zoom gathering (to be recorded for subsequent on-line access). Although we may not be able to enjoy each other’s local dishes, we will still be able to learn from experienced speakers, discover a bit about growing, harvesting, preserving, and distributing food in the South Fork and Foothills.
• Topic of discussion: So the harvest is in; what do I do now with all this food? How can we share and allow access our bounty?
• Presenters:
• New Valley resident Aubrey Redmon on preserving and freezing.
• Judy Torfin, longtime local canning expert.
• Cheryl Thompson, Executive Director of the Foothills Food Bank
• How to attend: When the time comes, click on this link to enter the meeting:
