ALL IN THE TIMING: Benefit for Youth Acting Program @ Sylvia Center for the Arts

ALL IN THE TIMING: Benefit for Youth Acting Program @ Sylvia Center for the Arts

iDiOM Theater proudly presents ALL IN THE TIMING by David Ives.

Two nights only: Fri May 24 & Sat May 25 at 7:30pm.

Tickets are $25, available at https://sylviacenterforthearts.org/events, benefiting Sylvia Center’s Summer 2019 Youth Acting Program.

David Ives’ collection of short comedies, described by The New York Times as “surprisingly substantial in its silliness,” first premiered in 1993, and quickly became the most-produced non-Shakespeare play in the nation.

Its status as one of the most popular plays of the last 30 years helped usher in a new era of one-act theater which was highly influential on iDiOM Theater and its founders.

“Witty, irreverent, absurd, and inventive—these plays are exactly the type of work iDiOM was built on,” says Artistic Director Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao.

The ensemble cast will be joined by student actors, and proceeds from the show will support Sylvia Center’s Youth Acting Program, which gives students age 13–17 the opportunity to take acting classes and perform in theater productions.

The Summer 2019 Youth Acting Program begins this June and offers student scholarships and sliding scale tuition in order to make the program as accessible as possible to any students/families who wish to participate.

This year’s summer youth program will be taught by theater educator (and iDiOM ensemble member) Michael Morgen along with the creative staff of iDiOM Theater, at Sylvia Center for the Arts, and will culminate in a free outdoor production of Aristophanes’ THE BIRDS in Maritime Heritage Park in July.

ALL IN THE TIMING includes the much-loved short plays Sure Thing; Variations on the Death of Leon Trotsky, Unamunda, the Universal Language; and Words Words Words.

iDiOM Theater, “the hardest-working theater in the known world,” has been one of the most prolific producers of new work in the nation since 2002, and is the in-house production company at Sylvia Center for the Arts since 2016.
