Pearl Django is coming to Bellingham to help raise money to save KPLU Public Radio! Join us in the basement ballroom of The Majestic on North Forest in downtown Bellingham to dance the night away. All proceeds go to “SAVE KPLU”.

About the “SAVE KPLU” Campaign: On November 12, Pacific Lutheran University announced that it was selling KPLU radio to station KUOW. A community group has the opportunity to make an offer for the station, and that’s where YOU come in. In order to save KPLU, the community needs to raise $7 million in five months, with a deadline of June 30, 2016. If the goal is not met, all donations will be refunded. A donation to the Save KPLU fund will help secure the station as a vital voice in Western Washington.

About KPLU: Ranked as one of the most popular public radio stations in the nation, KPLU has been bringing music along with award-winning local and national news, to the Puget Sound Region since 1966. They identify as a public media company, Pacific Public Media, a community service of Pacific Lutheran University. Your support will ensure the survival of an independent, local newsroom, hand-picked and professionally curated jazz and blues, “Jazz24″ a 24-hour HD and streamed jazz station and a continuing commitment to local music education.

About the Band: With a performance history spanning more than two decades, Pearl Django endures as one of the most highly regarded Hot Club style groups working today. Although the band’s roots are firmly in the music made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, its extensive repertoire includes traditional jazz classics and original compositions. Pearl Django has performed at festivals, dances and nightspots throughout the U.S. and abroad. They have played at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois sur Seine and have been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered.” The band’s signature style is marked by pristine and dexterous string work, colors of Bal Musette, the steady pulse of rhythm guitar and an unmistakable swing that delights audiences of all musical sensibilities.
