Wild Things:Toddler&Family Nature Exploration @ Marine Park

Join us every Friday and Saturday morning from 9:30-11:00am to explore local parks with your little one! Wild Things is a placed-based community program that meets in a different local park each month to see what nature has to offer. We get curious about whatever natural wonders we discover as we move at a toddler’s pace, then wrap up with a “snack and story time”. In June we will be meeting at Marine Park to explore the shore and heron rookery. Best for ages 0-6, older siblings always welcome. We meet year round rain or shine. Registration is encouraged, but not required. Program is donation based/pay-what-you-can

Free Community Clothing Swap! @ IBC
Jun 15 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Free Community Clothing Swap! @ IBC

It’s our fifth annual Free Community Clothing Swap! We will have all sizes, genders, ages, seasons, and styles, including shoes, accessories, and outerwear.
Will be taking place Sat. June 15th, 10am-2pm at 2000 W North St in Bellingham.
Clothes can be brought to exchange, but it’s never required. This is a free clothing event, open to all. Last year we served over 300 Whatcom residents in person, and all leftover items went to local assistance groups to helps others free of charge. We had enough clothing for 3000-4000 individuals and hope to clothe even more of our neighbors this year!
This year we’ll have an expanded activity area for kids, refreshments for attendees, and lots of clothing to share. Hope to see you there!

Marine Algae and Ecology of Pt. Whitehorn @ Birch Bay State Park
Jun 23 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Marine Algae and Ecology of Pt. Whitehorn @ Birch Bay State Park

Celebrate the lowest tide of the year at Whatcom Co.’s best naturalist beach. We will approach the Point from the Birch Bay side, about 3 miles of beach walking, return total. Rubber boots, field guide, snacks, water, hand-lens, hand towel; all recommended; and ANTICIPATE MUCH COOLER, BREEZY, conditions than in your garden. All knowledge levels and backgrounds are welcome. An algae list is provided, and bring whatever field guide you may own and like. If buying or updating, I suggest Druehl, Louis D. and Bridgette E. Clarkston, 2016, Pacific Seaweeds and/or Sept, Duane J., 2019, The New Beachcomber’s Guide to the Pacific Northwest. Meet at S.W. corner of Birch Bay State Park (boat ramp) and last toilet facility at 9:00 AM; Discover Pass required for parking there. Bob Lemon and Glen “Alex” Alexander will lead up to 10 interested participants. Pre-registration is required. Contact Bob at lemprev@alphahunt.com to register or with any questions. Email is preferred but Bob can also be reached by phone at (360) 714-8629. More information will be supplied via email to registrants.

Limit 10, preregister with field trip leader.
