You know The Chrysalis Inn & Spa as an iconic destination perched above Taylor Dock, near Fairhaven. Its 45 guest rooms boast beautiful views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands, and sunset vistas enjoyed from their rooms’ windows can’t be beat. But on March 8, the Chrysalis also becomes the spot to meet and mingle with the area’s best local wedding vendors as part of its first Spring Wedding Show.

The boutique hotel hosts small weddings and events of up to 75 people and has long been a popular choice for local lovebirds. It’s a place full of romance: from weddings to honeymoons and Valentine’s nights, this place has it all.

When Alicia’s Bridal in Bellingham closed—and its bridal shows along with it—a hole was left for couples planning Whatcom County weddings. On top of this, the Chrysalis Inn & Spa wasn’t known for appearing at other bridal shows in the area. “We knew that we, as the Chrysalis, weren’t participating in shows the past couple of years because we just couldn’t find the right fit, and I was also hearing that from vendors,” says Chrysalis Inn & Spa Director of Sales and Marketing Chris Caldwell.

The idea to launch a show of their own began to form, and on March 8th will finally come to fruition. Purchase advance tickets to the show by calling Caldwell at 360-392-5558 and be entered in a drawing for a night’s stay at The Chrysalis. A $25 admission gets you four hours of time with a variety of talented wedding vendors at the beautiful hotel, from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, and will include wine, small bites, and interactive experiences, such as a brow and lip makeup station and hair styling, plus huge discounts for attendees.

“We wanted to create a show that was a bit more of a high-end experience,” Caldwell says. “We may not have as many vendors [as other shows], and that’s why we’re making it more interactive. So they can really get to know a particular vendor.”

The vendors for this show were selectively chosen for the quality of their work. From cake bakery to florist, photographer to invitation designer—and much more—just one professional from each industry will be highlighted.

Vendors were carefully determined based on personal recommendations. “For example, we’ve worked with Pozie by Natalie for many years,” says Caldwell. “From my experience, she seems to do the most unique floral arrangements I’ve ever seen. And Clinton James had done some wedding photography for us about five or six years ago. It just grew from there.”

Caldwell says her favorite part of planning this event has been the collaboration between vendors. “Everybody is just so excited to work together,” she says. “Because it’s our first show, we all came together and brainstormed ideas to make sure we’re going to provide the best experience for the couples that attend.”

The following phenomenal vendors will all be on-site on March 8:

You’ll find more details about the show and longer posts about each vendor on the Chrysalis Inn & Spa’s Facebook page. Caldwell will be on-site the day of the show, checking people in and representing the Chrysalis Inn & Spa as the premier small wedding venue it has become. If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact her directly at 360-392-5558.
