Unity Care NW is excited to announce that our health center has been named the “Community Team” for this year’s Ski to Sea race! This designation is awarded to a local nonprofit organization through a competitive application process. Our team, “UCNW … and healthcare for all,” will receive free registration for the event. Thanks to Whatcom Events for their sponsorship of the Community Team competition.
This will be the third year Unity Care NW has participated in Ski to Sea. All of our athletes on this year’s team, and nearly all of the athletes on our previous teams, are Unity Care NW staff. Our physicians, behavioral health counselors, pharmacy staff, and dental staff have all gotten involved, along with our administrative and information technology staff. It has been a terrific opportunity to highlight the health benefits of physical activity, team work, and being in nature.
Jenn Good, Clinical Data and Informatics Manager, is leading our team again this year. “We have six returning participants and two new faces on the Unity Care NW team this year,” she says. “It’s great to build community with colleagues participating in fun activities away from our busy professional lives. It’s a wonderful honor to be designated as the Community Team and be able to showcase and spread the word about our health center that we’re all so proud of.”
This is a busy time for Unity Care NW. In addition to training for the Ski to Sea, we will be opening a new health center in Ferndale this summer. As our organization continues to grow to meet the health care needs of Whatcom County, our North Whatcom Health Center on Portal Way will increase access to affordable primary medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services for 9,500 children and adults. We’re excited to see construction of this beautiful new facility coming to completion.
We’ll be cheering on our staff team members on race day, Sunday, May 26. Good luck everybody!
