Sustainable Connections announces its impressive lineup of speakers for their annual Sustainable Design and Development Conference, Northwest Washington’s premier green building and smart growth conference taking place Wednesday & Thursday November 4-5, 2015 at Bellingham Technical College.

The conference draws inspiration from the Living Building Challenge, a building certification program, advocacy tool and philosophy that defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in any building project. It will be an impressive gathering of the area’s most creative thought leaders in green building and the contractors, architects, designers, builders, planners and engineers who are best equipped to create healthy efficient buildings and communities.

Keynote speakers include:

•             Denis Hayes, CEO of the Bullitt Foundation and Founder of Earth Day

Under his leadership, the Bullitt Foundation designed and constructed  the Bullitt Center, the world’s greenest office building. “The Bullitt Center — instead of pursuing just net zero energy, net zero water, net zero carbon, composting toilets, toxic-free materials, an enticing stairway, 80+ percent day lighting using high-performance windows — chose all-of-the-above. And they chose them for a six-story urban infill project in a dense neighborhood in one of the greatest cities in the world, Seattle.”

•             Corey Weathers of Common Agenda and Catalyst 2030

Common Agenda is an online platform comprised of networked industry professionals staying informed, sharing their stories and collectively solving complex and challenging problems. Catalyst 2030 helps progressive communities and organizations identify and implement the best strategies, tools and resources for integrating sustainability.

Registration for the conference is available online now and includes locally sourced lunches, workshops, networking, and two receptions hosted by the Northwest Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Early bird pricing ends October 21, 2015.
