Share a community meal prepared by members of WHRTF to observe International Human Rights Day and celebrate 25 years of local human rights activism. The keynote speaker, Devin Burghart, is the executive director of the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights, a leading national anti-bigotry organization. He is internationally recognized for his work covering the threat of white nationalism for more than twenty-five years. He has published several books, including “Soundtracks to the White Revolution”, “Tea Party Nationalism”, and the forthcoming “Middle Men: Proud Boys and the Reproduction of Misogyny and White Supremacist Ideology”. His work has been cited by the New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, CNN, and numerous other outlets.

Beyond reporting on threats, Devin has led effective campaigns against the new nativism, white power music, the militia movement and more. He was also a founding board member of the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force. Combining his research and organizing experience with his love of tech, Devin recently led the development of a new effort, Trepper: the Anti-Bigotry App.
