The tour will have eight stops, showcasing the best in natural, eco-friendly homes and landscapes. For $10, participants can take a self-guided tour — visiting local homes utilizing the latest innovations in green design, reclaimed materials, net zero energy, rainwater harvesting, passive solar construction, rain gardens, and permaculture and low maintenance landscapes. New this year is the VIP Bus Tour! VIP ticket holders get special event offers, in-depth green building education and guided stops, hassle-free transportation, and a local lunch at the Sustainable Living Festival. There is a limited quantity of VIP tickets so get them soon! All VIP tickets must be purchased by June 17.
The RE Store will be hosting this year’s Sustainable Living Festival as a stop on the tour and will showcase businesses, products and services geared towards helping you accomplish your next DIY project. Attendees will see offerings for energy improvements, water-reuse and efficiency, urban farming tools, native plants, green builders and much more. Located off of Meridian, professionals will be available to answer questions and give their expert advice. Admission is free and kid’s activities, giveaways, games, prizes, a beer garden, live music, and food trucks will keep the whole family entertained.
Interested participants can peruse details about the tour and festival inside a free printed guide, available June 1st at many local businesses or online at WhatcomHomeandLandscapeTour.org. The website will also contain mobile friendly Google Maps, photos, downloadable tour guides, site descriptions, festival participants and a directory of local businesses related to home and landscape goods and services.
