WWU Industrial Design's ReMade Opening Reception @ Ideal

Don’t miss this annual showcase of WWU Industrial Design student talent and your first chance to purchase their innovative designs at the opening reception.

ReMade challenges 12 junior-level Industrial Design students to transform discarded materials into market-ready products – moving from concept to storefront in just eight weeks. Ideal has hosted the opening reception and sale since 2009. Stop by Friday, May 30 from 6-9pm to meet the designers and take home a piece of sustainable innovation.

This year’s theme, Circularity, explores how products can be designed for disassembly, recyclability, and material recovery. Expect a vibrant mix of home goods, fitness gear, and playful decor – each crafted from reclaimed materials and accompanied by student-designed packaging and branding.

A limited quantity run of each design will be for sale at Ideal from Friday evening, May 30 until June 13 or sold out.

Arboretum Day: Nature Walks, Music & More! @ WWU Outback Outdoor Classroom

Arboretum Day is an annual celebration hosted by the Ecological Restoration Club at Western Washington University, held at the Outback Farm with activities extending into Sehome Hill Arboretum. This community event features faculty-led interpretive hikes on geology, ecology, and birdwatching, a restoration work party focused on removing invasive plants from the Outback Creek riparian zone, and plant-based T-shirt printing led by an art teacher. The day wraps up with live music from Blue Collar Grass Band, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for all ages. Learn more at www.serwwu.org/arb-day.
