A magical evening of music will be held in the charming Rome Grange on the evening of December 14, at 7pm. Recording artist Lydia McCauley (vocals/keyboard,) is joined with Grammy winner Nancy Rumbel (oboe, English horn and ocarinas), and performer Claire Furtwangler (cello/vocals ). A special treat will be a winter reading by Lyanda Lynn Haupt, renowned author of Mozart’s Starling and Rooted.
Well known for her holiday recordings and concerts Rumbel, (Tingstad &Rumbel: The Gift, Star of Wonder, Comfort & Joy ) asked her friend and fellow recording artist/performer Lydia McCauley ( Quieting, In the Moon of Wintertime) if she would be interested in creating a musical evening to celebrate the beauty of the Holiday Season and Solstice. Lydia agreed
and they chose the historical and country feeling of the Rome Grange as the venue. They have performed there twice before, as well as attending a pancake breakfast or two.
As the idea of the concert grew, the lovely cellist and vocalist Claire Furtwangler, who relocated to Bellingham, was invited to perform. Lydia had also recently met author Lyanda Lynn Haupt, who also happens to be Claire’s mother, and the thought blossomed of inviting her to do a reading of her choice.
The evening is perfect for a relaxing escape into well-loved melodies and the sounds of beautiful instruments and prose. The repertoire chosen will include original pieces, and carols from Italy, France, Germany, Ireland, Great Britian and the US – music that is cherished by all three musicians.
