16TH Anniversary Dinner Honors Outstanding Whatcom County Women
The YWCA Northwest Women’s Hall of Fame will honor four women for outstanding community contributions at a 4:30 pm dinner Sunday, March 23 in Northwood Hall, 3240 Northwest Avenue, Bellingham
Honorees for 2014 are:
· Superior Court Judge Deborra Garrett. As an attorney, she focused on employment and housing rights for low-income people and pro bono service to nonprofits.
· Julianna Guy. A persistent spokesperson for a park and branch library in the underserved Cordata neighborhood, she is now helping to create a park in the King Mountain area.
· Lummi leader Ramona Elizabeth Phare Morris. For decades, she has advocated for the rights of Native Americans in Whatcom County, throughout the Northwest and across the nation.
· Ann Marie Read. She has helped thousands of families rear successful adults over the past 25 years as a parenting educator at Bellingham Technical College.
Each inductee will receive an original art work by local painter Kay Ingram.
