In this workshop, we will explore ways to add texture, line, and color to your quilts using hand quilting, fiber artist Marla Varner’s favorite way to finish a quilt! You will be introduced to basic hand-quilting techniques and learn about a variety of threads, needles, batting, hoops, thimbles and other tools. Hand quilting is a very simple process, and once you know the basics you can begin practicing and develop your own style. Varner will share her quilts, her love of hand quilting, and her personal preferences. In addition, you will receive a resource list of tutorials and materials to help you explore on your own, following the workshop. Co-presented by the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum.
