FREE THEATER IN MARITIME HERITAGE PARK!

BRISEIS is an original play written by Sylvia Center Artistic Director Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao, based on stories in The Iliad.

First mounted at iDiOM Theater back in 2012, this quirky black comedy tells the story of the last days of the Trojan War through the eyes of captive war-bride, Briseis.

The show is generally suitable for all ages (but does contain some mild cursing, descriptions of violence, and features at least one comical beating with a loaf of bread).

PERFORMANCE DETAILS:
Performances: June 20, 21, 22, 28, 29, July 5 & 6
Venue: Maritime Heritage Park
Admission: FREE TO ALL
Running time: 100 minutes

ABOUT THE SUMMER REP:
BRISEIS is part of Sylvia Center’s 2019 Summer Rep, an ambitious mini-season of five plays based on the mythology of Ancient Greece, presented in contemporary versions that are funny, surprising, and unexpected:

* BRISEIS by Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao
* Sophocles’ AJAX
* Aristophanes’ THE BIRDS (Maritime Heritage Park)
* a new telling of Homer’s ODYSSEY (Sylvia Center for the Arts), and
* AN ILIAD by Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare (Maritime Heritage Park)
