Co-working office Localgroup Studio, located in Downtown Bellingham’s Arts District, is scheduled to reopen with new safety features and protocols as part of Washington state’s Safe Start reopening plan for Phase 2 Monday, June 8, 2020.
Localgroup Studio, a co-working space dedicated to the health and welfare of its co-workers, welcomes returning and new members to its offices, with the introduction of new precautions for the safety of its coworkers and community, including: the separation of desks and workstations at a minimum of 10 feet distance; the installation of protective screens; the provision of facemasks, hand sanitizer, and tissues to all co-workers at every desk; frequent air filter changes and HVAC maintenance; required safety training of all staff and co-workers; symptom screening; the installation of hands-free lights and temperature controls to reduce and remove contact with high-touch surfaces; compostable plates and cutlery for food consumption; and nightly cleaning of high-touch areas every weeknight. All new features and protocols are laid out in detail in Localgroup Studio’s COVID-19 Update.
“While we have always prioritized the mental, social, and physical health and welfare of our co-workers by having air purifying plants; organic, non-toxic cleaning products; standing desks; and hosting educational and community talks and events, during this time we are making extra strides to ensure all members that the Studio is following virus prevention guidelines set by Washington state, Whatcom County, and the Centers for Disease Control. We recognize that some folks will need to work outside of their homes, so we are doing our best to make this possible at Localgroup in the safest way. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to host in-person events, but it makes the most sense in terms of protecting our co-workers from increased exposures,” says Alan McConchie, Founder of Localgroup Studio.
Founded in 2017 in the former space of the Whatcom Children’s Museum, Localgroup Studio is a co-working space founded by Bellingham-born-and-raised Alan McConchie. In addition to being a co-working space, Localgroup Studio has hosted events and exhibitions such as The Vienna Model, Design Drinks + Talks, Bellingham Design Skill Share, Bellingham Housing Co-op Resource Center, and Ascendants of the Movement Black History Month Celebration, among others.
