Brad Jones of Bellingham placed in the top 15 of three individual events in the U.S. Masters Swimming Spring National Championship, conducted April 28 – May 1 at Greensboro, N.C.
Jones, 50, competed in the men’s 50-54 age group at the short-course meet, which drew more than 3,000 participants. Representing Puget Sound Masters, he placed 12th in the 100-yard butterfly (57.51 seconds), 13th in the 50-yard butterfly (26.01 seconds) and 15th in the 100-yard individual medley (1:00.36).
“It’s difficult just to qualify for this meet, so I’m thrilled to be ranked in the top 15 of the country in three events,” Jones said.
Jones also swam on three relay teams for Puget Sound Masters. His teams in the men’s 45+ age group finished eighth in the 200-yard medley relay and 11th in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Swimming on a mixed 45+ 200-yard medley team, Jones placed 13th.
Jones, the practitioner/owner at Rolfing Bellingham, is the strength and conditioning coach for the Bellingham Bay Swim Team. He also has finished high in national and international kettlebell lifting competitions.
