Chevalier de Saint-Georges | Symphony No. 2
Ralph Vaughan Williams |The Lark Ascending
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart | Symphony No. 29

We celebrate the opening of our 46th season welcoming our new Concertmaster, Dawn Posey!

Selected after a national search, Ms. Posey solos on “The Lark Ascending,” introduced by Shu-Ling Zhao, co-founder of the Sylvia Center for the Arts, and a community organizer and social justice advocate. This work is accompanied by a delightful, evocative visual presentation by our graphic designer, Audrey Negro, as well as members of our orchestra.

The afternoon also includes a work by a true polymath: a man who mastered everything he set his hands to, from fencing to opera, violinist to composer. Chevalier de Saint-Georges’ Symphony No. 2 is a testament to his prodigious skills and a delight to hear.

We close with Mozart’s Symphony No. 29, written by the 18-year-old Mozart after a trip to Vienna with his father, where he was exposed to the latest music of his friend and idol, Joseph Haydn, which many believe influenced the finale of this harmonically rich work.

These are reduced-capacity concerts with seating sold only in pairs.

For BSO events, all patrons must provide proof of vaccination for entry. A negative COVID test result will not be accepted as a substitute. Due to vaccination requirement, children under 12 cannot attend.

All programs are subject to change; please see the Bellingham Symphony website for detailed information.
