KMRE 102.3 FM, Bellingham’s longest-running community radio station, has received approval from the FCC to broadcast with a more powerful signal, allowing their unique mix of local programming to reach beyond Whatcom County and into our region.
To make this happen, KMRE needs to raise $50,000 to cover the costs of a new antenna, transmitter, and equipment to reach this broader audience.
The event includes the live performance of an original radio drama written for this event. “The First Broadcast” is a historical comedy set in 1927 about the first radio station to ever broadcast in Bellingham.
Following the radio drama, there will be a concert from Bellingham rock band The Walrus, and a silent auction of vinyl records, rare posters, antique radios and other music-related items.
Tickets are $20 per person and include two drink tickets. They are available for sale at Village Books and at www.kmre.org.
