For two nights a year near Valentine’s Day, musicians of all ages from the Bellingham community and beyond have the opportunity to perform as their favorite bands in the basement of Make.Shift Art Space. This year’s Valentine’s Day Cover Show on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb.11 will feature artists ranging from beginners to seasoned performers covering songs from 23 bands spanning decades of musical history and genres. Featuring bands from The Ramones to Tacocat, each group will perform a 25-minute set of their band’s greatest hits in front of their friends, family, community members and music lovers.
“Cover shows are my favorite events at Make.Shift. They involve people who are either beginners or people who have been performing for years,” says Tyson Ballew, Executive Director of the all-ages art space. “It’s such a supportive atmosphere that even if the set doesn’t go well, it’s still a lot of fun. This year I have seen the most teens submit to perform then I have previously. It’s amazing how much this event has evolved since it began seven years ago.”
The event is open to the public and will be hosted at Make.Shift Art Space at 306 Flora St. in downtown Bellingham. The cover is $6 to $10 each night and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the first band playing at 6:00 p.m. For more information please visit Make.Shift’s Facebook event page online here: https://www.facebook.com/events/623017574549371/
