Humans are the only species on Earth that purposefully acts to create its own demise! Evidence for this demise, called the Anthropocene, is found everywhere – in mountain-top removal, monoculture foods, unlimited styles of denim jeans and microplastics in water. Even our technologies cause us grief. The more and faster we use technology, the less control we have over it. Why do humans continue to defy Nature’s warnings? Why do we make certain choices, and why is the environment generally neglected in our decision-making?

But rest assured this class is not about doom and gloom! Instead, it is about learning how to take meaningful action steps to slow down the Anthropocene. We learn exactly what the Anthropocene is and how to combat it to preserve life as we want it to be.
