In this half-hour presentation and Q&A session by Michael Feerer, Executive Director of Whatcom Million Trees Project, he’ll show how English Ivy opportunistically climbs the trunks of any tree in its path and becomes a slow, silent tree killer. More than one-thousand trees in Bellingham are affected by this, including trees in your neighborhood (and maybe even your own yard)!
The good news is that English Ivy is easy and safe to remove from trees. Most folks can do it themselves or with minimal support from Whatcom Million Trees Project. No tree-climbing or special skills are required! Just a little bit of instruction and awareness to do it effectively without harming the tree. That’s what this session is about. You’ll also learn of opportunities with WMTP to join fun weekend work parties to remove English ivy in local parks and Greenways.
