The Jansen Art Center welcomes the GRETA MATASSA QUARTET for a live performance as part of the 2017 Jazz Series on Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Greta Matassa is one of the most talented singers working in jazz today.She has been voted “Northwest Vocalist of the Year” by Earshot Jazz seven times in 15 years! In 2014, she was honored with a lifetime achievement award and inducted into the Earshot Jazz Hall of Fame.
A mainstay on Seattle’s Jazz stages for many years, Matassa recently expanded her audience nationally through performances in New York (Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center), Hawaii and New Orleans and internationally with performance tours in Russia, Singapore and Japan.
Greta has released eight CD’s on the respected jazz label Origin Records and a DVD live concert with guitarist Mimi Fox. Her latest CD, “I Wanna be Loved” (Resonance Records) was critically acclaimed.
For this concert, Greta Matassa will be joined by Darin Clendenin (piano), Clipper Anderson (bass) and Mark Ivester (drums).
“We always enjoy playing in Whatcom County! We are planning an evening of classic jazz, featuring Ella tunes (celebrating 100th birthday), audience requests and many tunes from my 10 cd’s!” Greta says about the upcoming performance at the J.
