Join us for the Artist Reception and Opening for two new exhibits: Promising Futures: Whatcom County High School Student Art, and Seattle artist, Quincy Anderson, plus the continuing Spring Juried Exhibit. Established in 1997 at the Whatcom Museum of History and Art, the High School Student Art exhibition showcases artwork of high school students from across Whatcom County. The show provides dedicated, aspiring high school artists a chance to display their work in a major gallery. The paintings of Quincy Anderson are greatly influenced by her study of calligraphy, haiga painting and tea ceremony in Japan. Her study of painting in France, Italy, and Greece brought the elements of architectural design into her work. Travels in Indonesia, Thailand and West Africa have also enhanced her imagery and love of pattern. These exhibits run through May 30, 2015. Enjoy an evening of live music and grab a glass of wine or Kulshan beer from the Firehall Café. Live music will be performed in our Piano Lounge by Darla Bradshaw Lobb and Walt Burkett.
