Farmers’ Speaker Series: Jeff Dodson

Cloud Mountain Farm Center, a local non-profit agricultural education center, will host Jeff Dodson, who has been a Senior Research Scientist in Vegetable Seed Pathology for over 30 years. This session is part of the Center’s 2016 Farmer Speaker Series offered to increase conversation between local farmers and experts from fields related to farming.

Crop diseases are extremely hard to diagnose. Knowing whether an unhealthy-looking plant is suffering from a nutrient deficiency, or a fungal, bacterial or viral pathogen can give growers some basic understanding from which to act.

Jeff Dodson will talk about his experience working as a pathologist, and show participants some pictures of the patterns of the three main categories of plant disease. Ample group discussion time will allow farmers to ask specific questions and examine diseased plant material with Jeff’s expertise.
