Join us on January 12, 2024 at Aslan Depot for an evening of exciting music by the Aperatonic Trio. With Marceline Keene on guitar, Sarah Yates on bass and Melanie Sehman on drums, the Aperatonic Trio will bring their unique blend of skill and creativity to Aslan Depot, showcasing the often-overlooked brilliance and depth of jazz music by women and non-binary composers. The carefully curated program will feature compositions by Tomeka Reid, Anat Cohen, Geri Allen, Mary Lou Williams, Marike van Dijk, Nubya Garcia, as well as original works by the trio. A staple of the local music scene, these three musicians have been seen performing together in other local and regional groups such as The Unknowns, Nuages, MANtrio and Lulu Swing.
About Aperatonic Trio
Aperatonic Trio emerged from a shared curiosity and enthusiasm for free improvisation, collective composition, and the desire to explore the vast and diverse world of works by women and nonbinary jazz composers. Their music flows organically through textures and intensities, at times delicate, convivial, groovy, boisterous. They have performed in various combinations together with local groups including The Unknowns, MANtrio, Nuages and Lulu Swing (SEA). They find joy and musical inspiration in cookbooks, each other and sharing a laugh after a good improvisation.
