The City of Bellingham is honoring World Water Day on Saturday, March 24, from 10:00 a.m. to noon with its 10th annual Walk for Water event. This free event, which raises awareness of the global lack of access to clean water, begins and ends at the Fairhaven Village Green and travels along Padden Creek. The 2.2-mile non-competitive walk is open to all ages. Educational signs along the route and educational displays at the Fairhaven Village Green will teach participants about the ways that nature provides solutions for our water-related challenges.

The walking route will stop at a number of city restoration and stormwater projects, where city staff will be available to answer questions about the projects.

Participants are encouraged to carry jugs filled with water during the walk to simulate the work that many individuals in developing countries do every day to obtain water. You can bring your own jug or grab a pre-filled jug at the event.
