WANTED: Ed Bereal for Disturbing the Peace @ Whatcom Museum - Lightcatcher building

The Whatcom Museum is proud to present the work of Bellingham-based artist Ed Bereal for his first museum retrospective, Wanted: Ed Bereal for Disturbing the Peace, which chronicles the full scope of the artist’s diverse practice.

The exhibition features six decades of artwork, from Bereal’s never before exhibited early journal sketches and self-portraits to his symbolic assemblage to his radical street theater work of the 1960s and ’70s through his troupe Bodacious Buggerrilla.

2019 – 2020 Winter Juried Exhibit @ Jansen Art Center

Join us at the Jansen Art Center on Thursday, September 5 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM for the Opening Reception for the 2019 – 2020 Winter Juried Exhibit. Enjoy Live Music in the Piano Lounge, meet the artists and explore all of our Winter Exhibits!

The Juried Exhibits are open to the public as a way to showcase the artistic talent in Whatcom County and the surrounding region. Each season, artists are invited to submit up to five pieces to be judged by a qualified jury made up of artists, curators, and other figures in the arts community. The selected pieces are displayed in the Jansen Art Center for the community to enjoy.

Kaleidoscopic by Christen Mattix @ Jansen Art Center

The Jansen Art Center is pleased to welcome Christen Mattix to the Chamber Hall for an exhibit of her work this Winter. The exhibit, Kaleidoscopic, opens with a reception from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 5.

Christen Mattix grew up in Thailand and moved to Bellingham, WA in 1995. She received a BFA from Western Washington University; an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work exists in private and public collections. Exhibitions: The Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, WA; SAM Gallery in Seattle, WA; and nationally. Christen teaches at WWU and the Jansen Art Center.
