Submitted by: Whatcom County Executive’s Office

Whatcom County government is committed to caring for the health and well-being of our employees, customers, and our communities and to reducing the threat of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. Accordingly, effective Wednesday, March 18th, most public service front counters in our facilities will close. This will include:

  • Council Clerk’s Office
  • County Executive’s Office
  • Prosecuting Attorney’s Office
  • County Human Resources
  • Public Defender’s Office
  • Front counter at Public Works in the Civic Building
  • Planning and Development Services Office at the NW Annex

The County Auditor, Assessor and Treasurer’s Offices will close later this week and public notice will be provided.

Staff will still be working in their offices and be accessible by phone and email generally between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30 Monday through Friday.

Many County offices can provide essential services through web services, email, and telephone without the need for citizens to have to come to our offices. As we transition to this type of access for County services, please plan and prepare accordingly if you were anticipating a visit to County Offices in the near future. We will be posting our public service hours and contact information on office doors and county department websites. Some offices will be available by appointment only. Those offices will provide public notice of these kind of changes.

We recognize this is a challenging time for all, and we remain deeply committed to the safety of our customers, teams, and communities. We will continue to communicate any service adjustments to you, monitor developments, keep our electronic messaging as current as possible and do our part, along with you, to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
