Bellingham Bay Swim Team (BBST) member Gavin Jones qualified in the 200 Meter Breaststroke (Long Course Time Trial) 2:22.15 for Speedo Summer Championships (US Open and Summer Junior Nationals cuts) at the 2019 Winter Speedo Junior Nationals on Tuesday, December 10 at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Jones, a junior at Bellingham High School, is currently ranked #5 in the country for 16-year olds, as well as BBST open team record holder.
Racing against the fastest swimmers west of Ohio, on Friday, he broke another BBST team record for 15-16 year olds in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (58.06).
On Saturday, Jones also raced in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:02.92), where he ranks #14 16-year-old in the country and holds BBST open team record.
Jones will compete at the Speedo Summer Championships August 4, 2020 in Indianapolis.
