A $2 million renovation of the meeting rooms is underway at the Four Points by Sheraton Bellingham Hotel and Conference Center.
Work on the 14,000 square feet of meeting space began in early January and will be completed by late April, according to Larry MacDonald, General Manager of Four Points Bellingham. The last event before renovation in the grand ballroom, site of many of Whatcom County’s top events, will be the Whatcom Business Alliance’s annual Business Person of the Year awards banquet March 23.
The meeting rooms are receiving state-of-the-industry sound systems, audio-visual equipment and fiber-optic cables for event, as well new décor, from floor to ceiling.
“We’ve been Whatcom County’s favorite site for business meetings, social or nonprofit events for years, serving Western Washington University, Lydia Place, Women’s Professional Network, Whatcom Hospice, the annual Chamber awards banquet and numerous other major Bellingham events,” MacDonald said. “We are very excited with this renovation and the introduction of ‘Green Meetings,’ offering guests an opportunity to gather with minimal environmental impact.”
The renovation of the meeting rooms follows major upgrades made in the last two years to the guest rooms, lobby and Chinuk restaurant and the rebranding of the property, said David B. Storm, CEO of Providence Hospitality Partners, which manages Four Points Bellingham. “When the ballroom and all the meeting spaces are completed, this will place the Four Points by Sheraton Bellingham Hotel and Conference Center as the premier meetings destination in the Northwest,” Storm said.
