Change a Life. Become a Tutor.
The Whatcom Literacy Council presents a Volunteer Info Session & Thank You Party
Wednesday, September 9th 5-6pm at the Bellingham Public Library.
Come learn more about the Whatcom Literacy Council, the far reaching impact of illiteracy, and about becoming a volunteer literacy tutor.
Current volunteers are invited to come and celebrate their service to the community with cake and juice, and to share their stories with neighbors who are interested in becoming volunteers.
WLC provides free, confidential, one-to-one tutoring and small classes for adults in order to help them improve their reading/writing skills or learn English. Training is provided and tutoring takes place within your own community at hours convenient for your schedule. No previous teaching or foreign language skills are needed. Tutors must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from high school.
