The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center (WDRC) is offering an Understanding Conflict Workshop, August 23 & 30, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the WDRC. Pre-registration is required and the cost of the class is $95.00.
This six-hour interactive workshop is part of the WDRC’s Conflict Resolution Education Program. The curriculum is designed to develop participants’ awareness of their own approach to conflict and to increase their skills and capacity to better manage conflict as it arises in their home, community and work environments. It is facilitated by Mary Dumas.
Participants will learn how to:
• Listen actively and assert their needs,
• Understand their own response to conflict
• Communicate effectively in high-stress situations
One community member and past participant described their experience as, “helping me articulate unformed notions and ideas and thoughts. It gave me a language and terminology for resolving conflict and having difficult conversations.”
