Have you witnessed salmon in local creeks? What challenges do salmon face during the great migration that they experience only once in their lifetimes?

Join us to search for salmon and learn about the different types of salmon that call our local streams home. This course is scheduled for one day in the fall selected to optimize the likelihood of seeing salmon spawn in the wild, while learning more about these amazing creatures.

Class starts at the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) office in Bellingham and then participants drive on their own to one or more local creeks with moderate walking to the best viewing areas. Dress in layers and be prepared for inclement weather. Bring water, a sack lunch and consider packing binoculars and a camera.

Outline of the day:
• Overview at NSEA office: 10 – 11:30 a.m. at 3057 Bakerview Rd., Bellingham
• Lunch at NSEA: 11:30 a.m. – noon
• Drive on your own to stream site: noon – 12:30 p.m.
• Optional second site, time permitting: 2 – 4 p.m.
