Western Libraries Reading Series: Derek Moscato – “Pipelines and Prairie Protest: How Great Plains Environmentalists Win Hearts and Minds and Change the Media Narrative.”
Derek Moscato is an Assistant Professor of Journalism and Public Relations at WWU. His research focuses on the confluence of strategic communication with environmentalism and globalization. He will discuss the use of strategic communication and media/publicity strategies within contemporary environmental activism, drawing from the ongoing case of Bold Nebraska, a grassroots advocacy group that has opposed the construction of TransCanada’s Keystone XL petroleum pipeline.
