Expulsion of Chinese in 1885, of Punjabi Sikhs in 1907 and of residents of Japanese descent in 1942 … It has happened before in Bellingham, and it can happen again.
This multi-disciplinary interactive presentation regarding prejudice and inclusion brings together history, arts and psychology to offer a path of mindful avoidance for these most human of tendencies – prejudice and exclusion. Presenters include Dr. Paul Englesberg, educator and historian; singer and songwriter Linda Allen; WWU art students Carly McCartney, Ramneet Kaur and Theresa Williams; and local mental health professionals Dr. Nina Spadaro, Rives Thornton and Andrea Beilner.
