The Local “Boys in the Boat”

In conjunction with this year’s Whatcom Reads! selection, “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown, Curtis Smith and Bob Diehl will share their stories and insights about the physically and psychologically demanding sport of rowing. Curtis Smith, the author of “The Brothels of Bellingham,” rowed with the University of Washington (UW) crew in the 1950s. Bob Diehl was an undefeated collegiate rower at UW from 1958-1960. He is a former head coach of the WWU rowing team and is board chairman of the Whatcom Rowing Association.
