On Monday, May 20, the Green New Deal 101 Town Hall panel will discuss the recent sweeping proposal to combat climate change introduced by New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey.

Focusing on probable components of the plan and how they will affect the citizens of Whatcom County will be panel members:
Dr. Sharon Shewmake – WA State Representative and Economics Professor at WWU
Steve Garey – BlueGreen Alliance and Former President of the United Steelworkers (Anacortes)
Edgar Franks – Farmworker Organizer
Michael Peñuelas – Community Organizer: Yes On I-1631 (Clean Air, Clean Energy), 350 Bellingham, and Fossil Free Stanford.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Jill MacIntrye Witt – WWU Instructor, Author, and Climate Reality Project Leader (founded by Vice President, Al Gore).

The panel will field questions from the audience as well as from on-line viewers.

Three local activist organizations – Indivisible Bellingham, Whatcom Undaunted, and the Climate Reality Project – Bellingham Chapter – are hosting the evening. It will begin at 6:00 pm at the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship (downstairs), 1207 Ellsworth Street. Doors open at 5:30. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
