Freelance artist Evan Whitehead is native to Bellingham, growing up in the foothills of Whatcom County and the North Cascade Range. He attended local schools and Whatcom Community College while enjoying the natural beauty of Mount Baker as his backyard.
The presence of the mountain, along with its beauty and individualism have been a focal point to in Whitehead’s work. He sees Mount Baker as “an icon of boundless creativity, inspiration and individual freedom,” which he works to express through his paintings.
Whitehead is a self-taught artist who creates colorful landscapes inspired by Mount Baker, the surrounding Nooksack Valley foothills and Mt. Shuksan. He paints in acrylic on canvas, murals, walls, rock, wood and fences – just about any surface that is made available.
A natural explorer and avid snowboarder and hiker, Whitehead loves the scenery. He utilizes the resources of the local mountains’ natural, wild beauty and originality to create visual art for others to appreciate “eternally and internally.”
