Join us for a delightful evening of French and Austrian music for wind quintet and piano.

On the Program:
The Sextet by Frances Poulenc, composed in 1931, is brimming with energy and flavor. The first movement sets a stage of the hustle and bustle of Paris, while the second movement is more introspective and Mozartian with its melodic line. The Finale is celebratory and carries all of the pop and vigor of Poulenc’s youth.

The Sextet by Ludwig Thuille is a rich score full of lush Romantic melodies. Thuille was an Austrian composer who was great friends with Richard Strauss and highly influenced by Strauss’ composition style, which is evident in the grandeur of this work. Composed in 1888, it remains one of his most popular chamber works to this day.
