Boater’s Intro to Tides & Currents

This two-day class guides participants through the concepts behind tidal exchanges and currents, including how to integrate tide and current predictions into safe small boat trip planning. Experienced local kayaker Ed Alm provides strategies for making long crossings shorter and predicting the effects of the moon and weather on tidal and current patterns. Knowledge of tides and currents is an important safety concern for small-craft boaters in the cold, dynamic waters of the Salish Sea.
