Get connected with Blaine Harbor and its history!

This is your chance to learn about and give input on the future of a cleanup site at Blaine Harbor after over 50 years of marine vessel maintenance left heavy metals, anti-fouling agents, PCBs, semivolatile organic compounds, and petroleum hydrocarbons in the area.

RE Sources for Sustainable Communities will lead a public tour of the Westman Marine site is from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on September 4th, and begins at Westman Marine, Inc. 218 McMillan Ave, Blaine Harbor. Staff from the Department of Ecology and the Port of Bellingham will be present until 2:00pm to answer questions and encourage public comments on this step of the cleanup plan released by Ecology — the “Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study”.

You can also see details and comment on the cleanup plan online from September 3rd to October 2nd at www.bit.ly/Ecology-WestmanMarine (Site will be updated in the coming weeks)

Email North Sound Baykeeper Eleanor Hines with any questions, at eleanorh@re-sources.org.
