“Arsenic & Old Lace” is the tale of a young man in love, Mortimer, who uncovers the unlikely and unseemly activities of his spinster aunts, Abby and Martha Brewster, and his two unbalanced brothers, Teddy and Jonathan. Mortimer is newly engaged to the Reverend’s daughter and is horrified as he discovers his aunts’ fondness for dispatching elderly gentleman and his criminally insane brother’s inherited murderous pastime.
