Girls Ultimate (Frisbee) Movement

On Saturday, May 7 a free, girls-only Ultimate Frisbee clinic will be held at Harrington Field (WWU) from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30. Girls of all skill levels in grades 3-12 are invited to participate in this event called Girls Ultimate Movement (GUM). Ultimate (Frisbee) is an exciting, fun, non contact team sport that mixes elements of soccer, basketball, and American football into one high energy game. Ultimate is self refereed, emphasizing mutual respect between players.

This girls clinic is a collaboration with USA Ultimate, WWU Women’s Ultimate Team (Chaos), and Bellingham Youth Ultimate where participants will learn the skills and strategies of the game of Ultimate from coaches who are former and current players on the WWU Women’s Ultimate Team (who just earned a bid  to play at Nationals)!

Bellingham Youth Ultimate is a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire youth to be exceptional humans through playing and competing in the sport of Ultimate.  Other programs include elementary after-school enrichment, a middle/high school club, and a summer camp.  Parents of past participants have commented on how much their kids enjoyed our events, “they seemed to have a real sense of sportsmanship, community, and developed real skills over the course of the session.”
