Ten Bellingham businesses are joining forces with the Whatcom Peace & Justice Center (WPJC) for the 8th annual Drink and Dine for Peace. Throughout September, in celebration of the 22nd annual International Day of Peace, participating businesses will donate a portion of sales to support WPJC’s mission of building a more peaceful, just, and equitable community. This year’s theme, “We Keep Us Safe: Fostering a Culture of Care,” highlights the truth that safety grows not from fear or force but from strong relationships, mutual care, and collective action. It’s a reminder that meaningful change begins right here at home. Think global, act local.
“In a time when so many of us feel overwhelmed by division and uncertainty, ‘Drink and Dine for Peace’ is a reminder that we keep each other safe by showing up for one another. Change begins here at home — when local businesses and nonprofits come together to build stronger, more caring communities. We’re grateful to our partners for proving that peace can be rooted in everyday acts, like sharing a meal.” — Aline Prata, Executive Director, Whatcom Peace & Justice Center
As one of Whatcom County’s few nonprofits in Whatcom led primarily by people in diaspora, WPJC has been a hub for community education, intergenerational empowerment, and grassroots action since 2002. Drink and Dine for Peace offers neighbors a simple way to support this work — and highlights the local businesses that make it possible.
