Hotel Bellwether is pleased to announce that its 2019 Holiday Trees Fundraiser was the most successful year yet.
The 8th annual Holiday Trees Fundraiser at Hotel Bellwether raised $11,065 for Skookum Kids, a Bellingham emergency foster care nonprofit. 18 local businesses participated by sponsoring and decorating a tree that was entered into a month-long contest. Throughout the month of December hundreds of the traveling and local public visited Hotel Bellwether to see the trees lining the halls. Over 400 individuals donated and then voted for their favorite of the 18 beautifully decorated trees.
Kathy K. of Lynden, Washington was randomly selected from all the ballots to win a night’s stay in the Hotel Bellwether’s signature Lighthouse Suite. The ballots were tallied with Avenue Bread taking the top spot, with a tree covered in their famous breads. Local civil contractor Jansen Inc. took second with a peacock-themed tree. Downtown Bellingham business ModSock came in third with a tree decorated in a variety of socks.
