The Disney organization has a long-standing reputation for impeccable customer service and has created a business that focuses on making people happy. The Ferndale Chamber of Commerce is hosting the seminar, taking place March 8, 2018 in Ferndale. Two Disney professionals will teach attendees the five universal pillars that Disney uses to sustain business excellence – leadership, culture, service, brand and innovation.

At the seminar, Disney will use examples from their own business that attendees can apply to their own positions. The energetic Disney staff aim to inspire you as a leader, so you can return to work and implement changes to gain proven, positive results.

Every Organization Has Room for Improvement

This is a very unique event that has not been offered in Whatcom County for over six years. Gregory Hansen from the Ferndale City Council was in attendance at the last event and has been able to use the things he learned at the seminar in his everyday work life.

“I attended the Disney Institute’s ‘Leadership Excellence’ day-long workshop in the spring of 2011,” says Hansen. “As a hospitality and tourism instructor at Whatcom Community College, I am always interested in Disney’s operational philosophies.

“The Disney brand sets the standard for organization, operations, customer service, creativity and marketing in the hospitality industries. I went into the workshop with high expectations, and the Disney Institute did not disappoint. Their multi-media and multi-modal workshop included presentations, activities, discussion and self-reflection. What surprised me most, however, was how the Disney Institute program was designed to apply to most any business or organization.

“Even better than the Leadership Excellence workshop, I won the door prize at this event – a three and a half day Disney Institute workshop in Orlando, Florida. I chose to attend the ‘Disney’s Approach to Customer Service’ workshop in the summer of 2011. This workshop included instruction, activities, workbooks and immersion in the Disney philosophy through behind the scenes tours and experiences. Even after 20 years in hospitality and numerous customer service trainings, this phenomenal workshop managed to completely change my ideas and philosophies about Customer Service.

“Every organization has room for improvement. In my opinion, Disney Institute workshops provide attendees with the tools, insights and philosophies that have made Disney one of the best known, successful and well respected entertainment and hospitality brands in history. A Disney Institute workshop will help you answer the question, ‘What if Disney ran my organization?’”

What to Expect

At this seminar you can expect to listen, learn, interact and have fun – it is Disney, after all. The schedule is packed with presentations and activities that are designed to help you glean the very best time-tested business practices from Disney, with examples that are relatable to every industry.

The event takes place at Pioneer Pavilion in Ferndale, located close to I-5, with plenty of free parking. And you can certainly expect to be well fed. The seminar will include fully catered meals including breakfast, lunch and a coffee break.

You will leave feeling motivated and ready to use everything you learned to improve your organization. Disney believes the lessons taught at this seminar will, “forge an enduring bond between inspired leaders, motivated employees, satisfied customers and an ability to continually grow the brand.”
